Director, Code ComplianceCity of DallasChristopher Christian serves as the Director of Code Compliance Services for the City of Dallas, bringing over 13 years of public service experience. Since 2013, Chris has built a strong reputation for innovation, operational excellence, and results-driven leadership across Aviation, Public Works, and Code Compliance.
He began his City career at Dallas Love Field as an Airfield Maintenance Technician, quickly earning promotion to Crew Leader. He later served as Manager II, overseeing a $15 million budget and major infrastructure projects. His tenure in Public Works included leading complex alley and street repairs and managing procurement and capital projects. In 2021, Chris joined Code Compliance as a Code Administrator, where he led efforts that reduced illegal dumping citywide by 66%. Promoted to Assistant Director within nine months, he led financial operations and drove initiatives to increase revenue and efficiency. Appointed Director in 2022, Chris now leads a department of 456+ employees and a $45 million budget. Under his leadership, the department has earned: Department of the Year, Innovative Program, and Creative Marketing Awards from the American Association of Code Enforcement The Jill Robinson Officer Safety Award from the Code Enforcement Officer Safety Foundation Full department accreditation, becoming the largest code agency in the U.S. to achieve this Key initiatives in 2024 include launching the HealthSpace software and online license portals, expanding Keep Dallas Beautiful programs like Code Cares and Clean Your Block, modernizing officer safety equipment with body cameras and vests, and leading department-wide training for customer service and field performance.
