Literacy Lab Specialist

Baker Ripley

Ms. Canty has been an educator for nearly a decade. She has served emergent bilinguals and newcomers to the country for the majority of her career. She possesses a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Early Childhood education with certifications in Early Literacy Leadership and Oral Language Development. She has a wealth of experience in event planning, university admissions, hospitality/tourism, recruitment, teaching, mentorship, event planning, and leadership. She has served on the board of Global Playground which is a non-profit organization that supports structural and educational projects internationally.

Her faith in Jesus Christ has been the source of her passion and pursuits within the educational arena. Additionally, she has led a campus-wide mentorship initiative and has been a member of several advisory councils that have focused on teacher development, family engagement and staff retention. Within the past two years, she has been blessed to receive an Exemplary Teacher designation from the Texas Education Agency in her role as Literacy Lab Specialist at BakerRipley Charter School. She is looking forward to continuing her purpose-driven work in building communities and being a bridge between people, resources, and opportunities.
